Twisted Ice Cream is a conceptual ice cream shop that focuses on creativity and experimentation through combining multiple flavors of ice cream. Twisted Ice Cream builds community through its family friendly atmosphere and service, as well as its involvement and presence in local community events.
Twisted uses HWT Arabesque in its logotype as well as brochure headings. Century Gothic Pro Bold is used for the words “Ice Cream” in the logotype, as well as subheadings in other brand material. Noto Sans Regular is used for body copy in media such as the brochure, as well as its bold counterpart for brochure subheadings.
Packaging

Twisted uses a two-colored, marbled background for its packaging. This became Twisted’s most prevalent visual element across multiple products, as well as other pieces of Twisted Ice Cream’s visual brand. Creating a visual identity is important, especially for a local business that is still in the process of establishing a strong brand identity.

Like with other materials, Twisted Ice Cream uses HWT Arabesque and Century Gothic Pro Bold. However, in this case Arial was used for any copy on the package designs based on feedback regarding visual conflicts between the original use of Noto Sans with the use of Arial inside the Nutrition Facts label. Since Nutrition Facts labels are standardized, a design choice was made to change the copy for the packaging only so as to not incorporate too high of a variety of typefaces.

Twisted Ice Cream's two-toned, marbled pattern from its packaging designs has been carried into the front page of the website as well for visual consistency. Twisted Ice Cream’s webpage makes use of the same HWT Arabesque and Century Gothic Pro typefaces as have been used in other pieces of Twisted Ice Cream’s branding such as its brochure and packaging designs, as well as Noto Sans as a more copy-friendly sans serif typeface.
The webpage displays the store’s hours and address as well as a section about Twisted’s founding, a section about Twisted’s community involvement, and Twisted’s menu of ice cream flavors. The webpage features a navigation bar at the top for quick and easy switching between sections, and each section is a different color so that those who are scrolling rather than using the navigation links can also easily tell when they have transitioned from one section to the next. The site was also designed with accessibility in mind, with special attention to text readability, color contrast, and alt text on images where applicable.
The entire webpage was built using Bootstrap 5.2 so that the entire page is responsive to the user’s screen size, and is specifically designed so as to ensure that all web elements are correctly sized depending on the scale of the page.
